Happy me after scraping the bowl clean. Still not full, though.
Happy New Year! I hope all you BOB fans had a relaxing holiday. I must say I didn’t miss my freeze-dried noodle lunches over the vaca. But it’s back to work and thus back to slouching over my keyboard with a messy bowl of boxed deliciousness (or not, depending).
Today’s treat is Annie Chun‘s Teriyaki Noodle Bowl (with tofu, carrot and spinach topping — aka, freeze dried sprinkles in three colors). This is a solid boxed lunch option, despite my disappointment with the sprinkle topping. Can anyone tell me how to drain the water out of the bowl without half the topping draining down the bathroom sink? The teriyaki sauce is actually delicious (yes, really!). The noodles are thick and chewy, quite nice. The topping is not even a factor, as aforementioned, half of it is sitting in my office bathroom sink now due to sloppy drainage of the water, which wasn’t helped by the hot water burning my hands during the process.
So Annie gets a solid 8 out of 10 for tastiness, 4 for filling my belly (these darn things never fill me up! doh!), a 5 for ease of preparation and a 10 for environmental awareness. Yes, folks, Annie Chun is the master of the environmentally friendly boxed lunch. The box even has its own mission statement. I mean, really, it doesn’t get much better than that. The bowl is biodegradeable and all the ingredients are natural and organic. Let me share a sample of the text on the box:
Saving the Earth One Bowl at a Time
This biodegradable bowl is just one of the many ways we can all help heal the planet. We’re also committed to fightig world hunger and invite you to join us in ‘buying a child a meal’ with a 19 cent donation at www.1bowl.org
It’s not every day a girl gets to save the world and eat a bowl of noodles all in a day’s work. Not too shoddy. The only problem is that the vending machine snacks I’ll need in about 15 minutes are not helping the cause.
